Dona Place of Children

This is a playgroup school and Daycare facility Explore Kibera helped build through the support of Hope to Kenya, a Canadian organization that after touring with us, they were touched by the story of a young boy in Kibera who died due to a fire outbreak while the mother had gone to do laundry in Karen, a rich neighbourhood adjustment to Kibera and locked her baby in the house. The fire was caused by an electricity fault that is predominant in Kibera due to the illegal connection of electricity.

Dona Place for Children provides a safe place for children, where mothers can leave their children and go to work. We provide daycare services for a very small fee and in some cases, for free to children as young as a few months, to three years. Those who are older than three years are taken to Play group school within the same facility.

Some of the volunteer opportunities available for Dona's Place of Children include playgroup teachers, baby handlers and any other capacity relevant to the project.

We also accept donations in the form of school supplies, food, equipment, and salary payments
